Cane Furniture Care Guide

A quick and simple checklist for looking after your cane conservatory furniture:

  • Avoid heavy cleaning agents - a damp cloth shopuld be all you need to wipte clean cane furniture, especially if it is finished with a gloss or varnish. If you need more than a damp cloth, a drop of washing up liquid will not do any harm to the furniture if used now and again. Heavy cleaning agents may stain the cane or interfere with the varnish.
  • Lift, don't drag - by lifting the furniture, you minimise the strain you are putting on the joints and the framework. This will help you avoid splitting and splintering when you are moving the furniture about. You need not worry yourself too much - the furniture is strong and durable - but it is always a good idea to take the safe approach!
  • Protect from the sun - enjoying the sunshine is one of the most popular reasons for adding a conservatory to our homes. But your conservatory and everything in it will be subjected to far more sunshine and daylight than any other part of your house. It is strongly reccomended that you invest in a set of conservatory blinds or furniture throws to keep your cushions looking as vibrant as the day you got them. It is also advisable to turn cushions and move the furniture about on a regular basis, in order to ensure that any of the inevitable long term fading will occurr evenly, reducing the visual impact of this unavoidable situation.

Take care of your furniture and it will take care of you for many years to come!
